Mentor depuis 2021

Francis Sonier has been the Editor-in-chief of the Acadie Nouvelle since July 2009 after having been its Deputy Director for 9 months previously. This is Francis' second stint on the team for New Brunswick's only French-language daily newspaper.

In 1990, after obtaining his bachelor's degree in public communication from the Université de Laval in Québec, he settled in Acadia, his parents' homeland and began his journey with Acadie Nouvelle as a journalist.

Two years later, he decided to pursue his career as a journalist on the radio station of the Acadian Peninsula CKRO-MF, where he remained for two and half years.

In January 1995, Francis began studying to obtain a Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the Université de Moncton. At the same time, he was hired as a journalist for Radio-Canada Acadie.

In October 2008, he left the daily information for the administration of the Acadie Nouvelle newspaper.

Today, Francis leads a team of 55 employees and collaborators mainly based at the Caraquet head office and the Southeast office in Moncton.

In August 2017, Acadie Nouvelle acquired Éditions de la Francophonie and Francis also assumes its general management, succeeding his father Denis, who founded the publishing house in 2001.

From July 2015 to September 2021, the editor-in-chief of Acadie Nouvelle also acted for more than 6 years as chairman of the board of directors of Réseau.Presse, an association that brings together 25 French-langague newspapers working in minority, outside of Quebec
